Johnson established their St. Louis campaign headquarters at The Mayfair Hotel.
Known for his class and charisma – on and off screen – Cary Grant was another famous visitor to The Mayfair Hotel. Legend has it that, in an attempt to woo a love interest, Grant created a trail of chocolates from the penthouse’s sitting room to the bedroom, all the way up to the pillow, hence the tradition of leaving chocolates on guests’ pillows during turndown service.
